Download, versions and updates
There is no public download yet: the build is signed ad hoc and not notarised. How to know exactly what you run, what the updater does today, and what each version brought.
Nothing is written yet. This page says what is missing.
- PLANNEDA public downloadNot available: no public link, and the button of this site leads to the waiting list.
- AVAILABLEKnowing what you runThe Terminal reports the version, the build date and the commit.
- PACKAGEDUpdatesIn the build and triggered by hand, never exercised: the update address answered 404.
#Distribution
The app is built as a macOS disk image, for macOS 11 or later. By default the build is signed ad hoc and not notarised: macOS blocks such an image on any other Mac. Notarising needs a Developer ID, an Apple account and a password in the Keychain, and a public download waits for it.
Still missingThis site opens its download button only on a notarised release that names its disk image and its SHA-256 digest. Until then, the button leads to the waiting list.
#Know what you run
The status command gives the version, the profile, the build date, the commit, the path and SHA-256 of the binary, the storage, the caps and the settings. Call it as below: opening the app binary with the same word starts the app instead.
deskworth status
deskworth-os --cli status#Updates and licence
- The update plugin is declared with a signing key, and triggered by hand: check, then install, refused while a desk is running. In practice it is inactive: the update address answered 404 on 2026-09-15.
- The licence is a token checked offline against a public key built into the app. It never blocks the app. No real licence has been activated yet.
